Your puppy's first grooming appointment
The first appointment sets the tone for every groom that follows, so it is usually short, gentle and focused on the experience rather than the finish.

What a puppy introduction usually involves
Many groomers offer a shorter puppy session: a bath, a light tidy, handling of the paws, face and ears, and time spent getting used to the sounds of clippers and dryers. The aim is a puppy who leaves happy, not a show finish.
How to prepare at home
- Handle paws, ears and muzzle gently and often, in short sessions.
- Brush little and often so grooming feels ordinary.
- Let your puppy hear a hairdryer at a distance before the appointment.
- Keep drop-off calm and low-key.
